Governor General Sir Patrick Allen has announced that Prince William and his wife, Kate, will visit Jamaica for three days next month.
The visit will take place from March 22 through March 24, according to a press statement issued by King’s House on Thursday.
The announcement comes after weeks of speculation in the British media about whether the Royals will make the trip to the island.
The formal visit is part of the celebrations marking the 70th anniversary (platinum jubilee) of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation and the 60th anniversary of Jamaica’s independence, according to King’s House.
The Queen has paid six visits to Jamaica, the most recent in 2002 to commemorate her Golden Jubilee.
