NSWMA to get 50 compactor trucks

To increase waste collection around the island, the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) will receive an additional 50 compactor trucks.

To buy the vehicles under the Acquisition of Compactor Trucks Project, $1.8 billion has been budgeted in the 2022/23 Estimates of Expenditure, which are now before the House of Representatives.

The vehicles will bring the NSWMA’s fleet up to operational standards.

The Jamaican government is funding the project, which is scheduled to begin in April 2022 and end in March 2023.

Its goal is to produce a cleaner environment by purchasing 100 compactor vehicles.
